Sir Edmund Hillary (with the Tibetan mountaineer Tenzing Norgay) was the first to reach the summit of Mount Everest was the first to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1953. He's a notable character to study - he loved reading books about mountains and adventures, he achieved his goals by climbing over 34 mountains, he was knighted by the Queen of England for his Everest conquest, and he even gave back to the Himalayas community by building schools and hospitals.

So why are goals important, your child asks. Give them these SIX reasons why setting goals is vital to success:

  1. Goals propel you forward.
  2. Transforms mountains into hills, meaning goal setting helps break larger, intimidating aspirations into smaller, more achievable stepping stones.
  3. Helps us believe in ourselves.
  4. Holds you accoutable for failure.
  5. Tells you what you truly want.
  6. Goals help you live your life to the fullest.

And setting goals is an important life skill to have. :)
