TISSUE PAPER LETTERS

Today we made a LOVE letters because, well, I need to be constantly reminded to LOVE, especially when I don't feel like it. Or when it's difficult and trying, which is when I need it the most. It's a beautiful and simple craft. Here's what we did:

Purchase these letters from Michael's. TIP: Sign up for Michael's Rewards because you receive excellent coupons such as 50% off. I love a good deal. I should be the mascot for bargains. :)

Besides the letters, you will need tissue paper, a brush (and no, not the same brush you use for cooking - although sometimes I'm tempted to when I can't find our cooking one), glue, plus bowl and water (not pictured). Oooops.

Dilute the glue with water - mixing one part glue to two parts water - in a bowl

Cut the tissue paper into strips. We chose to do two to four colors each, dividing it by letters: L had hot pink, light pink, red, and yellow; O contained light green and dark green; V was light blue and dark blue; and E was violet and purple.

Place the tissue paper on the letter. Using the brush, dip a little of the water + glue mixture, then paint it onto the tissue.

TIP: Don't use a lot of water + glue mixture because it will rip the paper. You don't want the tissue to be soaked, but a tad wet. This will help it adhere to the block letters.

VOILA! Tissue paper letters.

You could hand these on the wall using these damage-free adhesives. Or you could lean them against a wall while sitting on a desk or a bookshelf. Either way, it's a colorful reminder to LOVE.

Shel Silverstein writes:

Ricky was "L" but he's home with the flu,

Lizzie, our "O" had some homework to do,

Mitchell, "E" prob'ly got lost on the way,

So I'm all of love that could make it today.
